Therapy designed for you
River + Root Therapy uses all modalities of therapy to bring you the session you need. For example, you might want to discuss the past for several sessions, observe relationship patterns and choices, and seek accountability for changes you plan to make for the life you want to live.
Homework is often suggested between sessions to level up your goals. This might include listening to a specific podcast, using movement as a solution for emotional regulation, finding wonder and awe in nature, and practicing five minutes of meditation.
Many aspects of mindfulness from evidence-based Buddhist practices are included within sessions. You will be reminded that you are not your thoughts and that your emotions come and go. Importantly, you will be prompted to practice being in the present moment.
You will learn elements of Action and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Couples will work with Gottman Method Techniques as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy.
